The week in hardware: Seagate stumbles, CPU prices drop
It was a busy (and frustrating) week this week, particularly if you're a Seagate owner, but all seems to have worked out on that front—finally. Both AMD and Intel cut prices, LCD manufacturing executives convicted of price fixing got tossed in the slammer, and NVIDIA launched a new low-end Quadro card.
Pics of Acer Aspire One 10" surface: It's an Acer Aspire One, it's got a 10" screen, and we've got pictures of it. No hidden meanings in the title.
Seagate offers fix for faulty hard drives. Twice.: We covered this story in two different places this week. First, Seagate owned up to an issue with their hard drives and issued a fix. (Good). The fix either failed to fix or downright broke certain 500GB, 750GB, and 1 TB drives that weren't previously affected. (Bad). As of now, Seagate has the repaired firmware available; anyone with a problem should now be able to correct it. A tip of the hat to Seagate for keeping customers in the loop and admitting the problem.
