New Chief Reorders the Yahoo House
Yahoo’s new chief executive, Carol Bartz, is putting her stamp on the company with a reorganization that creates a more top-down management structure.
Ms. Bartz announced the reorganization in a blog post titled "Getting our house in order" that has almost no details. But in a regulatory filing Yahoo said that Blake Jorgensen, the chief financial officer, is stepping down. Mr. Jorgensen was close to Yahoo’s former president, Susan Decker, who announced her departure when Ms. Bartz was named chief executive. Marco Boerries, the executive vice president heading the mobile unit, told employees earlier this week that he was leaving too.
As was the case with the half-dozen or so reorganizations that Yahoo employees have had to endure over the past two years, this one promises to streamline the company, make managers more accountable and pick up the pace of decision making.
