Nickelodeon, anxious to add their creative properties to the iPhone’s platform, is announcing a plan to release a variety of apps with their lead animated characters as the central focus. First up, SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom pals.
Nickelodeon, already known for adding social features to their casual gaming sites, has partnered with companies like Mobui to bring virtual versions of their beloved cartoon series’ stars to the iPhone for the enjoyment of you and your kids.

SpongeBob Tickler, a $1.99 virtual underwater pocket-pal, was Nickelodeon’s first attempt at an iPhone app and is reportedly already getting downloaded 3,000 times a day. If you’re a SpongeBob fanatic and not in the least disturbed that all you can do is play with SpongeBob - shake him, poke him, stretch him, and make him dance - then why not take him with you and tickle him at your fancy?
