Sittercity raises $7.5M to connect caregivers, clients
In its seventh year, Sittercity, the web site that connects clients with available caregivers, has raised a $7.5 million first round of funding to build brand recognition. Before now, the Chicago-based company has relied on seed money and revenue to grow.
The service’s clients aren’t relegated to parents looking for babysitters. It also directs users to caregivers for pets and senior citizens - as well as tutors for kids. Additionally, Sittercity works with businesses to offer human resources benefits to employed caregivers. Clients of this service include Avon Products, MasterCard, FOX Networks and Pitney Bowes, reports VentureWire. For unlimited access, users pay a $9.99 monthly fee or a $7.99 monthly fee with annual membership.
Sittercity’s first investment round was provided by Apex Venture Partners and Point Judith Capital among other existing and angel backers.
